Symphony, redesigned with you in mind. One of the first hybrid orchestras of its kind, the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra blends rising stars from the McDuffie Center for Strings with professional musicians and mentors from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to make classical music more accessible. Hear timeless favorites and bold new works at the historic Piedmont Grand Opera House. Major funding for the MMSO is provided by the Peyton Anderson Foundation.

The season closes with a program that moves from a dream to a reckoning. Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun marks the moment when the modern era in classical music truly began. At the heart of the program, a young soloist selected from the MMSO’s February 2027 Concerto Competition steps into the spotlight for a full orchestral debut, one of the most genuinely exciting moments of every season. The evening closes with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, known as the “Pathetique,” the last work he ever completed.
