Bands at the Grand Honor Band

Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival: The Mercer University Wind Ensemble Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Grand Opera House Friday night will be the first of two concerts in an Honor Band Festival hosted by Mercer University Bands. On the program will be Philip Glass’s Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists and Orchestra (transcribed for Wind Orchestra). Marcus Reddick will be joined by guest Laura Noah to perform this monumental concerto.

Bands at the Grand Honor Band Festival: High School Honor Band Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m.

Grand Opera House Mercer University Bands is proud to host talented high school musicians from across the Southeast to participate in our first High School Honor Band Festival, held at the historic Grand Opera House. This festival includes masterclasses with the Townsend School of Music’s world class faculty, guest conductors, guest composers, and observation opportunities. The festival concludes with this concert after just two days of rehearsal. Erin Bodnar, director of bands at the University of North Florida, will be the guest conductor for the honor band.
