There’s a reason why of all the great Broadway musicals of the post-war era this one is rarely revived onstage, as well as a reason why this film consistent ranks in the Top 100 movies of all time: Barbra Streisand. Barely a quarter-century old herself at the time, she was already the voice of her generation of chanteuses, and she simply explodes all over this classic backstage story of comedienne Fanny Brice.
