One of the greatest percussion ensembles in the world, the Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi have performed in the same way for centuries, passing down traditions and techniques from father to son. Their performances were traditionally a part of particular ceremonies, such as births, funerals and the enthronement of Kings. The origins of their performance being shrouded in ancient legend and mystery, the Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi channel the energy and creative spirit of a nation through these drums and the rituals surrounding them.

Since the 1960′s the Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi have toured outside of their country, becoming a popular attraction at concert halls and festivals around the world. Their massed drum sound, or the “Burundi beat” as it became known, also caught the ear of Western musicians and influenced British rock bands of the early 80′s. It was seeing the drummers that inspired Thomas Brooman to organize the first World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) festival in 1982, an event that helped to spark the whole World Music boom. They have performed for sold out audiences around the world. Their live performances are the ultimate African drum experience.

Tickets: $7 for GrandKids performances; $8 to $18 for the evening performance.

Based on Bob Hope’s 1942 USO tour to the troops in the field, All Hands On Deck! is a new, two-act revue performed by four charismatic singer/dancer/comedians and a nine-piece orchestra featuring the songs, dances and laughs that America has loved since the ‘40s. On air antics, classic commercials, timeless songs and hilarious, impromptu skits power the radio show until the performance comes full circle with a big patriotic finish that pays tribute to both active duty and veteran members of our armed forces.

Songs like Chattanooga Choo-Choo, Atchison Topeka And The Santa Fe, I’m In The Mood For Love, Pennsylvania Polka, I’ll Never Smile Again, Any Bonds Today?, Don’t Fence Me In, America The Beautiful, Deep In The Heart Of Texas, Thanks For The Memory and a powerful Military Medley deliver a fun-filled, true-to-life reproduction of the kind of USO show Bob Hope and Jack Benny would have taken to the troops: classic humor and great music from those special days of road shows, war-bond drives, and radio broadcasts.

The Little Sisters of Hoboken are off on their newest Nunsense adventure, this time heading to Tinseltown. They are thrilled at the prospect of performing at the Hollywood Bowl until they discover they are booked into the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama, not the famous “Bowl!” But when they hear that a big-time producer is auditioning people for a new movie musical about the life of Dolores Hart, the famous movie star who became a nun, their spirits soar! Could this be their big break?

Featuring all new songs, audience participation, and heavenly humor, ABC Television calls this show, “Hilarious, Wacky, and Unpredictable!” It would be a sin to miss Cindy Williams, the lovable star of Laverne & Shirley, as Mother Superior along with the original New York cast in this zany new musical comedy. The New York Times says, “The Nunsense shows have raised the human spirit!”
Political satire meets musical comedy as The Capitol Steps make their debut performance in Macon! Whether you’re right, left, independent or in-between – the Capitol Steps will have you howling as they parody politics and bureaucracy in a fun, all-American song and dance production.

The group began in December 1981 when some staffers for Senator Charles Percy were planning entertainment for a Christmas party. Their first idea was to stage a nativity play, but in the whole Congress they couldn’t find three wise men or a virgin. So they decided to dig into the headlines of the day, and they created song parodies & skits that conveyed a special brand of satirical humor – hence The Capitol Steps began their 30-year career of satirizing the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom of “Don’t quit your day job!” and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded over 30 albums, including their latest, Desperate Housemembers. They’ve been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard 4 times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials.

Tickets: $34 to $40

Tickets are currently available only for Season Subscribers. Tickets go on sale to the public on July 1, 2012.

Inspired by modern circus, Cirque Mechanics finds its roots in the mechanical and its heart in the stories of American ingenuity. Audiences of all ages will be thrilled by the acrobatics, feats of balance, mechanical wonders, dance and clowning around in this dynamic, cirque performance. Spectacle Magazine hailed it as “the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil.”

Cirque Mechanics was founded in 2004 by Boston native and German Wheel artist, Chris Lashua, after the success of his collaborative project with the Circus Center of San Francisco, Birdhouse Factory. Cirque Mechanics quickly established itself as a premiere American circus, with its unique approach to performance, inspiring storytelling and innovative mechanical staging. The show, rooted in realism, displays a raw quality, rarely found in modern circus, that makes their message timeless and relevant.
