The Color Purple

An epic tale spanning forty years in the life of Celie (Whoopi Goldberg), an African-American woman living in Georgia who survives incredible abuse and bigotry. This gripping historical fiction is based on the novel by Alice Walker, originally from Middle Georgia. The Oprah-produced 1985 film will screen here at The Grand before the musical movie filmed only blocks away in Downtown Macon premieres next year.
